New Christian Lolita Community~

Just in case any of you missed it:

I made a post on EGL about a new Christian Lolita comm. It is not area specific so anyone anywhere can post, so long as the posts are in English. We have twenty members so far and would love for anyone else to join us. You can post anything from lolita coords you wore to church, songs of worship, bible verses, and ways to do things in lolita for the glory of God. The group is also not just lolita, you can also be in other similar fashions.

As I'm sure many of you are aware (if you weren't, now you are), the death of Live Journal is very imminent. People are deleting their accounts left and right. This comm itself is pretty much completely inactive. Being overseas, I haven't been able to do much to keep it alive. I'm also only on Live Journal for a select few comms now anyway. And I'm not sure how many of you are actually still active on LJ yourselves. I'm pretty much not going to do any moderating of this comm anymore, because there is not much point.

So here are the options for this comm:

- We can delete the group. From it's conception as Christian_loli, it's never been a very active comm. I think this is just a difficult comm to run. What exactly can you talk/write about here?
- We can move it to a group on Facebook. I don't think this would work too well, but someone's free to try.
- We can wait till the forum that is being worked on (I think it's still being worked on) is finished, and someone can create a thread or group or something on there. I won't be doing that, so anyone who wants to is free to do so.
- We can just wait for LJ to completely die/for everyone to leave this group.

Let me know in the comments what you would prefer to do.

Location: I live in the Dallas Texas area (Richardson), but I go to college in Galveston Texas (on the A&M campus)

Lolita- Classic and very toned down sweet
Everyday- I actually just purchased my first coord at the end of the summer, and so it still hasn't gotten here yet. So right now, I'm very much a long-skirt-and-nice-shirt kind of girl!
About me: I became a Christian in junior high, after going to church camp (not during, but after a talk with my parents after I got back) and I've been going to church my whole life, and I feel very lucky. We switched churches when I was a junior in high school, and I got more involved with the youth group. As far as school goes, I've been in band since sixth grade, stuck with it all through high school, but I haven't gotten involved in it in college, and I started theatre my sophomore year, where I met my best friend. I go to Broadway Church of Christ here in Galveston, I'm majoring in Maritime Studies on the A&M campus (which is archaeology and that sort of thing) and I'm the secretary of Anime by the Sea, which is the anime club on campus.

Anything else?: I like reading, some classics (I love Sir Arthur Conan Doyles Sherlock Holmes works) some newer books (I love children's fantasy, like Inkheart and The Wishing Spell and I love the Hunger Games series; but I also like Lord of the Rings) but I also like reading manga, which I have quite a bit of. I love all different types of animals, and I am the proud "mamma" of my horse, his name is Reno and I miss him very much while I'm at school! My family also keeps three box turtles in our back yard, and my "little sisters" are my parents two sheltie puppies, Niki and Nina! (I have also had a cat named Alexandra, who passed away this summer, and five rats.) I also like the movie Avengers (and all the superhero movies Marvel has put out recently) and the band Steam Powered Giraffe!

I'm very excited to be a part of this group; I get very excited whenever I find fellow Christians on the internet!

About me: My life has changed very much in the last month. My husband was offered a job of the life time and we just moved to NC. I am a native of Chicago and was openly active in the j-fashion (especially gyaru) community. I have known of j-fashion since I was about 11 years and found myself in love because of the such dynamic styles. However, even being in a huge subgroup of people who loved the same fashion, I found that behind all the really amazing wigs, eyelashes and uber cute clothes my circle did not share in the faith... which made me feel incredibly alone at times. Since 2008, I decided I honestly wanted to live for Christ. I was born/raised a secular Jew and while I never questioned G-d, it was a while before I found the revelation of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Now that I have come to believe, I understand the need of fellowship. However, I never thought I was see an online community dedicated to both! You have no idea how happy it made me !!!!!!!!!!

Weekly devotional: New Year`s resolutions, promises and the like

Happy New Year, everyone!! I hope everybody had a lovely holiday! Have you made any resolutions for 2012? I admit I did made a few (like writing devotionals here every week, which actually is a promise I make every other week x_x).
Well, ok, it`s not like the whole world changes every time it spins around the sun, but this time of the year sure is a good opportunity to meditate on the past twelve months. And since a new year often makes us think of fresh starts and grand promises we make to ourselves, this will be this week`s theme! With the books of Jeremiah and Philippians in a kind of fragmented devotional…
